Amp Electric President and Pup Uniquely Serve the Community

Sadie is not a normal dog. Sadie is a Search and Rescue dog, but she had to overcome a lot to get to where she is today.

Jerry Faught, President of Amp Electric, acquired Sadie, when she was just under one year old. Sadie, now a two-year-old German Shepard, was abused in her early life before Jerry took her in.

Jerry then nursed Sadie back to health and bonded with the dog through hiking, camping, and LOTS of attention and TLC.

As if Sadie hadn't faced enough in her early life, a medical issue soon devoloped. Jerry noticed Sadie limping in December of 2009 and found out that she had a condition called "elbow dysplasia," which means her elbow bones never properly grew together. Jerry's options in treating Sadie's condition were either to put her down, or to find a veterinarian to perform an expensive surgery to remove the bones that were irritating her elbows.

Jerry's attachment to the dog led him to find a qualified veterinarian to perform the procedure. Jerry took Sadie up to Pullman, Washington to the Washington State University Vet Hospital. He spent thousands of dollars to have doctors perform the necessary surgery to relieve Sadie's pain, and allow her to continue walking, running, hiking, and playing like a two-year-old German Shepard puppy should be doing.

After a few weeks of down time, Sadie began to properly recover. Through her recovery Jerry took note of Sadie's amazing spirit, heart, and perserverance.

He enrolled Sadie in Search and Rescue training classes. She started training with the Oregon-based Search One K-9 unit. Her training started solely by looking for tennis balls inside of boxes in the garage, and now, against all odds, Sadie is the best Search and Rescue dog in the Search One K-9 unit.

Jerry facilitates constant practice for Sadie's Search and Rescue skills. Whenever family members come over for dinner, Jerry insists that they go hide in the forest behind his culdesac and wait for Sadie to find them.

Her record is about 20-1. The only time she left a family member without being found happened because of a yippy neighbor dog and a full bladder which distracted Sadie's search efforts. Jerry says this means she's still a happy puppy and has room to grow, and that's a great improvement from her tragic beginnings.
